Andrea McCluskey “The challenge of my work, as I see it, is to intuitively convey the dynamism and interactivity of the natural world. In these prints I use a language of abstraction made up of biomorphic forms and repeating patterns. As an artist it is my intention to imbue these forms with an emotional content and vitality. When the work succeeds, its images remain as a presence to be looked at again and again for new interpretation. As the French feminist critic, Helen Cixous, aptly says, “A New Language? No. A virgin way of listening and making the always new/old language speak'.” McCluskey is a Maryland native. Click to see full-size image
