Katrina W. Hoopes
Self-taught artist Katrina W. Hoopes was born in Hagerstown and graduated from North High. She lives in Waynesboro with her husband, Bill. Their son, Zach, is a student at Columbia University.

Hoopes works in pencil, colored pencil, and oils. She is a member of the Waynesboro Studio Club, and has won two Best of Show awards at the annual Clothesline Exhibit.

Her personal statement:

It would be great to say I love making art; but sometimes I think I hate it. It?s never good enough. I often expect more reaction from others than I get. My artistic objective is to inspire yearning in those viewing my art. I want to make them feel something, as is often the case with music or a great book. You know how it is ? you get in your car and frantically flick across the radio stations, searching for that song you just adore. Or you stay up until 3 a.m. not able to put that book down and, when you do, you stare at the ceiling, unable to sleep because the story scenes keep running through your head. That?s passion. That?s the reaction I want. And never get. But I?m still trying.
