2010 Blues Fest Exhibit
In fall 2009, the Washington County Arts Council, along with members of the Western Maryland Blues Fest Committee, invited artists to answer a call for the opportunity to become the 2010 Blues Fest Poster Artist. Among the many contestants who applied, illustrator Nathanael Roney was selected by the Blues Fest Committee.
Roney describes himself as “an illustrator at heart, screen printer by fancy, and designer by trade.” As such, much of artist’s work is crisp with bold contrasts. Simultaneously, his art is individualistic and energetic, yet sentimental. Roney, a Williamsport native, has a long history of attending the Blues Fest, and his eye-catching poster design clearly evokes the spirit of the event.
Nathanael Roney currently lives with his wife Kimberly in Asheville, North Carolina, where he works as a designer and illustrator for Mountain Xpress, an alternative weekly newspaper.
