Miss Maryland presents Artist of the Year Award at Benjamin Gallery

(HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND) - Miss Maryland, Brittany Lietz, presented Rebecca Pearl with the Benjamin Art Gallery 2007 Artist of the Year Award at a public art show reception on November 17 at the gallery. The event coincided with the premier release of Rebecca?s third limited edition print of the Hagerstown Series entitled ?On Time - Walnut Lane,? circa 1916. The gallery teamed with the non?profit organization, Saint Mary Catholic School by donating a portion of the proceeds from each print.
?On Time - Walnut Lane? is Rebecca?s third painting of Hagerstown and provides a historic view looking north on Walnut Street (formerly Walnut Lane). This winter scene features the number 42 steam engine arriving at the Cumberland Valley Railroad Station, which was torn down in 1967. Saint Mary Catholic Church stands proudly in the background and brick row houses that no longer exist today, line the left side of the street.
Cliff Springer, Benjamin Art Gallery CEO, commented ?Miss Maryland graciously accepted our invitation to present Rebecca Pearl with the Benjamin Art Gallery Artist of the Year Award. Rebecca?s keen artistic sense has impacted the community. Patrons are thrilled that Rebecca focuses on local scenes and events and genuinely appreciate the Hagerstown Series trilogy.?
