Exhibition at Washington County Arts Council: SACRED GEOMETRY

HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND; JANUARY 29, 2007--Works by Caroline Orner will be exhibited at the Washington County Arts Council in her solo exhibition ?The Power of Geometry? opening February 10.

Orner?s work is inspired by the universal language of ?Sacred Geometry,? leading the viewer into higher states of self-awareness and into the realm of ideal beauty. ?This language acts as a portal from the secular workd to the world of pure knowledge,? says Orner. ?It is the primary structure behind reality itself, and it is innate in all mankind.?

Caroline Orner, of Hagerstown, Maryland, graduated with highest honors in 1980 from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, and has been a practicing professional artist ever since. She has taught art at the University of Maryland, and her work has been exhibited and critically reviewed in museums and commercial galleries. Orner has been honored with support from the Ford Foundation, the Brooklyn Museum, and numerous state and local awards and scholarships.

Opening receptions for ?The Power of Geometry? are free and open to the public on February 10, 6-8pm and February 11, 2-4pm. The Washington County Arts Council Gallery is located at 14 West Washington Street in downtown Hagerstown. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10am ? 3pm and Saturday 10am ? 2pm.

The Washington County Arts Council was founded in 1967 to enrich the cultural, educational, economic and social life of our community through nurturing the arts. It is supported by local citizens and businesses, as well as by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland and the National Endowment for the Arts.
