Local artist Mike O'Brien selected for 12th Annual Western Maryland Blues Fest

The artist has been selected for this year's Blues Fest poster!
Hagerstown native Mike O'Brien is a freelance illustrator. O'Brien graduated from South Hagerstown High School, attended Hagerstown Community College, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the Savannah College of Art & Design.
Mike's work is inspired by such artists as Peter De Seve, Greg Capullo, Norman Rockwell and Francis Bacon. His work combines a level of social relevance with dreamlike imagery, and he prides himself on creating one-of-a-kind pictures. He works primarily in acrylic and colored pencil.
A sports fanatic, Mike can be found on his living room couch every Sunday afternoon during football season rooting for his Washington Redskins, and is a three time winner and defending champion of the Sackarooni Championship Tournament.
O'Brien's work will be featured in a solo exhibition at the Washington County Arts Council, opening Friday, June 1. The original blues fest art will be raffled off on Sunday, June 3 at Hagerstown's City Park, the last day of Blues Fest. The exhibition will remain on display through June 30.
