Art in Bloom at our Museum of Fine Arts

5th Annual Art in Bloom Scheduled at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts April 13 ? April 15, 2007
The fifth annual Art in Bloom will bring stunning floral designs into harmony with the art of the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts on April 13, 14 and 15, 2007. For this outstanding event, members of gardens clubs through out the state create original floral interpretations of works of art. Twenty-three floral works, together with the paintings, sculptures, and works of decorative art that they interpret, will be on view throughout the Museum. Excitement over Art in Bloom grows each year; the 2007 event has drawn the largest participation yet.
Art in Bloom begins with the festive Preview Evening held from 6:30 to 8:30, Friday evening, April 13. Refreshments will be served for attendees taking this special opportunity to view the arrangements before the general public. The evening will also include a raffle for custom calligraphy by Chris Tischer and a custom drawing of a home by Shirley Miller. Tickets to the Preview Evening cost $30.00 in advance and $35.00 at the door. Proceeds benefit the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.
Art in Bloom continues with free public viewing of the floral designs from 9am to 4pm Saturday, April 14, and 1 to 5pm Sunday, April 15. For the first time this year children's workshops will be held on creating floral interpretations. Connie Hoge will lead these workshops on Saturday afternoon. See the Education News section of this Calendar for more details. On Sunday afternoon, the Washington County Museum Consort will play beginning at 2pm.
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is mounting Art in Bloom in conjunction with the Hagerstown Garden Club and the Town & Country Garden Club. Other garden clubs whose members will participate include: Antietam, Brook Lane, Carroll, Clear Spring, Crossroads, Fountainhead, Cumberland, Green-Walled, Mt. Airy, New Market, Potomac, Silver Fancy and Woodland. This is the first year that young gardeners are participating in this program through the Trinity School of Frederick and the Youth Gardeners of the Hagerstown Garden Club.
