Representative Roscoe Bartlett sponsors art competition for high school students

WASHINGTON, DC--"I will be sponsoring the 2007 Congressional Artistic Discovery Competition for Senior High School students," announced Congressman Roscoe Bartlett yesterday."I believe that this competition provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the talent of students in Maryland's Sixth Congressional District and acknowledge our nation's gifted young artists."
Artistic Discovery is a high school art competition coordinated by individual Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The deadline for submitting artwork is April 23, 2007. Competition guidelines are posted on my website at http://www.bartlett.house.gov. Contact Art Competition Coordinator Brenda Frantz with any questions at 800-889-3012 (toll free).
Participating students must reside in the Sixth Congressional District. Students who reside in Harford, Baltimore or Montgomery Counties, can verify their Congressional district online at: to avoid disqualification.
On May 8, 2007, the winners in each of seven categories and the Sixth Congressional District Best in Show will be announced. The Best in Show winner from the Sixth District of Maryland will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel on Capitol Hill for one year and may be awarded an Artistic Merit Scholarship in the amount of $5000 per year, by the Savannah College of Art and Design. The Sixth District Best in Show winner will also be invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and reception in Washington, DC with other Best in Show winners from around the United States.
