Vizzie Art Awards exhibit in Martinsburg
MARTINSBURG, WV ? The Arts Centre is proud to present the award-winning work of local students in graphic design, graphic communications, journalism and photography. An exhibit of the entries in the 2007 Vizzie Awards will be on display at The Arts Centre from May 18 to June 9. The exhibit - in conjunction with The Arts Centre's regular programming - will be open Tuesday - Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
The Vizzie Awards - recognizing outstanding student achievement in the visual arts - are presented by James Rumsey Technical Institute, Blue Ridge Community and Technical College, CTC @ WVU Tech, Tech Prep Consortuim, and The Regional Print Institute. Quad Graphics is a sponsor of the program. All high school and home schooled students in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties are eligible to enter.
Winners are chosen in eight categories - ad design, page layout, printed piece, tri-fold brochure, news story, feature story, black and white photography, and color photography. In addition, a Best of Show award is granted to the outstanding entry among all categories. A trophy, cash award, and scholarship for a three credit class at Blue Ridge CTC is presented to each winner.
Winners are chosen by judges who are professionals in the appropriate fields and are appointed by James Rumsey Technical Institute. After an awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn on May 15, all entries will be displayed at The Arts Centre through June 9.
