Mariner String Quartet will perform in Hagerstown

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Mariner String Quartet will perform at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at 2:30pm as the fourth concert in the MSO Recital Series this season. The Series, sponsored by Cinda and Spence Perry, recognizes 100 Years of Art and Music in Hagerstown/Washington County with the Washington County Museum celebrating 75 years of excellence in providing artistic enrichment for the citizens of the region, and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in their 25th season of educating and entertaining while enhancing the cultural environment of the community.

The Quartet, who lost their violinist Phanos Dymiotis in a tragic automobile accident recently, has had to make some revisions to their original program. They will perform String Trio in c minor, Opus 9, No. 3 by Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770-1827), and a Quintet in G Major for Piano and Strings, Opus 57 by Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975), with guest musicians David Kreider, piano and Paula McCarthy, violinist. Regular members are Nicholas Currie, violin, Adam Gonzalez, cello, and Michael Strauss, viola.
