Announcing this year's Blues Fest artist

Born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland, Ashley Holden-Pennesi is the Art Director for B2B Outlook Magazine, as well as a freelance illustrator and muralist. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1999, and earned a BA in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Ashley works mainly in acrylic, pen and ink, and computer graphics, but she is currently experimenting with other media. Her inspiration comes from diverse sources, including old world masters and modern graffiti, tattoos and 80's cartoons. Ashley loves her job as an artist and possesses commitment and dedication to each piece she creates. She explores new avenues of art and design mixing different methods, mediums and sub-cultures, becoming the eyes of a generation.
Given her strong connection to Hagerstown, she's been gratified to see the town's progress in the past few years. Her great-grandfather, A. Lesley Gardner, was a local artist who ran the art department at Pangborn and taught art classes at the YMCA. "I know he contributed many artistic efforts to Hagerstown, and now I feel it is my turn."
Raffle tickets for the framed original art are sale at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery, 14 West Washington Street in downtown Hagerstown. The raffle will be held during Blues Fest on Sunday, June 1 at Hagerstown City Park.
