World Art Drop Day
Every first Tuesday of September is World Art Drop Day, a global art campaign founded by freelance illustrator, Jake Parker, that aims to connect the whole planet with art.
The inspiration came from his own experience in cross-country art drop where he left sketches around the United States. He said that he received tons of positive responses from the finders and he wants us to experience that kind of happiness, too!
If you're not familiar with Jake Parker, he is a prolific illustrator based in Utah working on animated films, comics, and books. In fact, you might hqave already saw some of his works in films like Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Rio (2011), and Epic (2013).
"All artists, (that means students and professionals, painters and cartoonists, sculptors and illustrators, animators and fine artists, photographers and printmakers; EVERYONE who creates) this September 3rd* is World Art Drop Day. Wherever you find yourself that day, drop a piece of your art and tell someone where to find it. The world needs this right now. We need to feel a little more connection to each other and there's nothing like the bond two random strangers can make through the act of creating and giving." – Jake Parker
