During July, two painters— Linda Constant Robinson and Michael Kraniski— will have solo exhibitions at TAG/The Artists Gallery.

Linda Constant Robinson (Constant is her signature name) explores line and color in new canvases that depict flowers, landscapes and Tibetan prayer flags. This show, titled “Between the Lines,” includes images inspired by Arizona skies and Buddhist influences.

From her travels to Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, and Thailand, Constant has gleaned images that she uses to create a tapestry of visual icons. The paintings are blended with bold colors and strong lines.

The compositions include hints of saffron robes, the blue of never-ending skies, mountains with expansive horizons, and the stillness of flowers. While she is inspired by visiting distant places, Constant always returns to the solitude of her studios in Frederick, Md., and in Arizona, where these inspirations become paintings."

Michael Kraniski is best known for his “Skyscape” paintings, and for his use of a strong color palette. He feels that the most interesting element in a landscape painting is the sky.

“A landscape is static, and of little interest until the sky acts upon it,” Kraniski says. “The sky sets the mood. It controls the color and light of the landscape, and provides a sense of movement to the painting.”

After graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Kraniski pursued a successful design career, winning numerous awards in the U.S. and Europe. Now he has returned to his original passion: the fine arts. He has shown work in galleries including Higgbe Art Gallery in Cleveland, Artist & Makers Gallery in Rockville, and Kentlands, and at festivals including Manayunk Arts Festival and Kipona Artfest in Pennsylvania and the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

TAG will also have a new show of work by the other members of the gallery. These exhibitions all run from July 6 through 29, with an opening reception from 5 to 9pm during First Saturday on July 7.
