Jan McIntyre-Creager titles her exibition: HOME EMOH
In her exhibition, McIntyre-Creager explores the emotional distractions of home instability brought on by mental illness, incompatibility, aging and other trauma. In other words, what happens when the sense of place called home disappears. Home is a place where we grow up as well as a place where we live in the present. The idea of home encompasses events and places that shape who we are. Home holds the inspiration, the memories of good and bad.
She investigates the concept of psychological trauma. To show some of the emotion associated with forced home changes, as well as the angst associated with planned home changes, the artist draws on the architectural and color associations she used in the past. Along with these ‘old friends,’ this body of work allows for a more ephemeral space with color pairings to express the emotions associated with domestic upheaval. She invites the viewer to experience these feelings of loss and uncertainty, as well as feeling unloved and unwanted. Home is within our hearts. It is the detritus of our existence in space. Sometimes we can't stay there. Sometimes we can't go back to what we left.

Marie Riccio titles her show: SILENT CONVERSATIONS
Riccio’s still life paintings invite you into a conversation of color, composition and relationships. The objects in her paintings interact within each composition, inviting artist and observer into a dialogue, revealing and reflecting what is happening in her inner and outer worlds.
She finds excitement in the practice of understanding edges, subtle value changes and color. As an observer of the physical world, she is also intrigued by measuring and understanding the underlying structure of things. For her that underlying structure is necessary for relationships to occur and to create the space to enable honest, and even unsettling, conversations. She directs the tabletop stage of the still-life, letting the objects play out scenes, surprising her in what is revealed. Evolving from this process, the painting begins to breathe, comes to life and conversations emerge. “I know when a painting is complete when I realize what the conversation is about,” Ricco says, “and I sense that the objects are in their intended places.”
TAG will also have a show of new work by other members of the gallery. Read more...
