During November TAG/The Artists Gallery presents a two woman show by painters Colleen Clapp and Marion L. Griffin.
Titled “Excavations and Discovery”, the exhibition runs from November 2 thru November 25. Opening reception for the artists is Saturday, November 3rd from 5 to 9 pm.
The artists will present a demonstration of cold wax and oil technique on Sunday, November 11, 3 pm
Collen Clapp and Marion L. Griffin join forces to explore the unique possibilities of cold wax medium combined with oil paint. Like excavators who dig, scrape and scratch at the surface of the earth, Clapp and Griffin take a similar approach to their work. The process of working with layers of paint and was medium reveals unpredictable, visual patterns evocative of unearth walls, temples and ancient caves. This “unearthing” process is where the real breakthroughs happen and exciting discoveries unfold.
Both artists use essentially the same techniques and tools to show their distincitve style and unique approach to their art. Clapp and Griffin will be presenting more than twenty new works, including a collaborative creation that the artists promise will “wow.”
TAG will also have a show of new work by other members of the gallery. Read more...
