TAG Box Show is back: it’s the “Return of the Cube”
TAG/The Artists’ Gallery will hold its 14th annual Box Show this year, and it’s all about tradition. The show will take place in its traditional month of March and the boxes will be in their traditional format: the Cube.
In 2013 TAG’s popular show was “unBoxed,” with artists working on flat squares. Last year the show was “Smokin’ Hot” in the summer, with entries created from cigar boxes. However this year the boxes will once again be the 8-inch by 8-inch wooden cubes that were used in the first eleven Box Shows.
TAG members and guest artists will paint, sculpt and transform these cubes into works of art. The sky’s the limit, and over sixty artists will be showing ingenious, extraordinary, and beautiful pieces of work.
The show opens on March 6 with a gala reception on First Saturday, March 7 from 5 to 9pm. Bids can be placed on the boxes throughout March, beginning with a minimum bid of $50. The silent auction ends at a final reception on Sat., March 28 at which bids can be placed until 8pm. Each box will go home with the highest bidder.
TAG, at 216 N. Market Street, Frederick, Md. is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, noon to 5pm Learn more at www.theartistsgalleryfrederick.com or call 301-696-8187.
