The Hagerstown Garden Club and the Washington County Museum of Fines Arts are finalizing the planning for the Art in Bloom 2015 fundraiser which will be held at the museum the weekend of March 27-29, 2015. Everything is starting to bloom!
Linda Hood, president of the Hagerstown Garden Club, said "This in-bloom event offers a unique opportunity for amateur designers to create an arrangement that is not confined by the standard flower show scale and point system outlined in the Handbook for Flower Shows. Individuals who create the floral arrangements invest time and money to plan and execute their arrangements. The designers are not paid for their work but there are other benefits to be gained, both professional and personal. All are encouraged by the thought of large numbers of individuals who take pleasure from their investment. It is an honor for them to represent their club or the children to represent their school."
Ms. Hood added that “Last year 225 people attended the Preview Party on Friday and 372 people viewed the arrangements over the weekend. The Preview Party netted almost $12,000. The proceeds can vary dramatically not because of attendance but rather because we have had on occasion "special gifts" that have offset the expenses.”
There are multiple sponsorship opportunities including a new sponsorship level introduced the previous year, "Friends of the Museum.” The category is any amount up to $250. This level encourages individuals who want to support the museum but who cannot do a corporate level sponsorship to support the event at a level more comfortable for them.
Art in Bloom 2015 Preview Party Chair is Jane Gocha. The Hagerstown Garden Club is grateful for the help of local preview party sponsors, such as AC&T, Gordon Grocery, Terrace Liquors, Bacchus Liquor and Wantz Distributors, which donate soft drinks, wine and beer. L J’s & the Kat Lounge is catering the dazzling event with an extravagant display of foods.
Art in Bloom 2015 promises to be a signature spring event!
