I come to my studio with reverence for history, respect for my daily experience and gratitude for the students who enrich and multiply my understanding of making art. During my 30 years of teaching and an adult lifetime of living as an artist I relish each moment I am painting or teaching as similar experience.

My paintings narrate personal journeys of solitude within nature. I strive to make a viewer aware of a fleeting moment of solitude in nature where nature’s quiet and environmental elements create a lasting impression saved in your memory. Teaching offers a similar opportunity to begin students on journeys of inquiry that afford moments of discovery, excitement, and reflection. As a student’s skills and conceptual grasp broaden, the rich inter-relatedness of design, communication, history, and science become visible and intellectual curiosity imparts far-reaching perspectives.

I am a Community College teacher and try to paint every day with my work exhibited at galleries and in juried exhibits throughout the country. My paintings are signed "Gabriel" in dedication to the lasting impact of my Italian grandfather’s love of nature and forests.
