Artistic Legacies: Art Across Generations - Call for Art

SHAPE Gallery is honored to announce, "Artistic Legacies: Art Across Generations," an upcoming exhibition dedicated to exploring the enduring impact of artists and their works as they inspire and influence subsequent generations.

We invite artists to submit their creations that reflect on this theme and demonstrate the generational flow of artistic ideas and expressions. This exhibition not only aims to display your artistic creations but also to spark conversations about the influence of generational changes on art. We look forward to showcasing your unique interpretations and the connections you draw between past influences and current trends.

  • Eligibility and Mediums: This call is open to artists working in all visual art mediums, including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, digital art, and mixed media.
  • Submission Guidelines: Eligibility: This exhibit is an open invitation.
  • Mediums: All visual art mediums are accepted, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, digital art, and mixed media.
  • Ready to Hang: All artwork submitted must be ready to hang. This includes properly framed or suitably prepared pieces with appropriate mounting hardware.
  • Submission Deadline: Please ensure your submissions are ready and meet all guidelines by the final drop-off date.
  • Artwork Drop-off Schedule:
    • First Drop-off: May 8, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM
    • Second Drop-off: May 11, 2024, from 1 PM to 4 PM
    • Third Drop-off: May 15, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM
  • Alternative Arrangements: If you are unable to meet at these times, please contact us to arrange a more suitable time.
  • Required Documentation: Artist Contract: Please have your artist contract completed prior to drop-off.
  • Inventory Sheet: Fill out an inventory sheet listing all pieces you are submitting. This will be checked upon your arrival to ensure all pieces are accounted for.
  • Exhibition Details:
    • Opening Reception: Join us on May 24, 2024, for the opening night of the exhibition.
    • Exhibition Location: SHAPE Gallery, 19 E King St. Shippensburg, PA. 17257
    • Duration: The exhibit will run from May 24, 2024, through June 21, 2024


The exhibit will continue through June 21, 2024, offering a full month for visitors to experience the impactful narratives conveyed through your artworks. We look forward to your submissions and are excited to see how your works interpret the theme "Artistic Legacies: Art Across Generations." This exhibition promises to be a compelling showcase at SHAPE Gallery, highlighting the dynamic and evolving influences that artists impart through generations.
